Cup glory for three Peamount teams
FOOTBALL at Peamount United continues to flourish with three of their girls’ teams successful in securing cup titles at the weekend.
The Newcastle club came out tops in the U13 Malahide Coaches Cup final, the U14 Molly O’Toole Cup decider and the DB Sports U15 final.
In the U13 decider, Peamount got the better of Cherry Orchard 3-0.
Teegan Berry was in flying form for the winners scoring two goals and went on to be named Player of the Match.
Ailbhe White was also on the scoresheet as United created plenty of chances and ran out well deserved winners.
The U14s recorded a 4-0 win over Granada in the Molly O’Toole Cup showdown.
Peas were 1-0 to the good at the interval with Sarah Reynolds finding the target.
However, Peamount’s strength in depth was clearly evident in the second half as they broke through for three goals.
Jemina Nicoll scored two goals for the winners while Karla Moore also found the back of the Granada net.
Sarah Reynolds and Sorcha Featherson were players that stood out for the winners.
This is Peamount’s third final to qualify for this year as they have reached the All-Ireland Cup final and Regional Cup decider.
It was fitting that the match was refereed by Molly O’Toole’s father Kevin.
Meanwhile Peamount’s U15s were also celebrating when they saw off Greystones 4-0 in the DB Sports decider.
