Cuts could force projects to close

The Equine Centre and the Ballyfermot-Chapelizod Partnership face severe challenges due to a 23 per cent cut to their budgets.

SICAP (Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme) replaces the LCDP (local and community development programme), and is being rolled out in 2015.
A cut of €742,000 is being imposed on Dublin community development programmes by Minister for Environment Alan Kelly – despite assurances from the government that there would be no cuts to public expenditure prior to the Budget 2014.
The Equine Centre and the Partnership are facing cuts of €83,500 and €80,000 respectively.
Both groups must tender for funding under the Private Public Partnership SICAP scheme by December 19.
