“Daniel was always smiling and made everyone laugh”

Tributes to a Tallaght man have been made online ahead of his funeral on Friday at Bohernabreena Cemetery.
35-year-old Daniel Morris died soon after crashing his car in a housing estate in Greenhills, Walkinstown and then entering two nearby houses, where he was later restrained by Gardai, on Friday, September 22.
Morris, of Allenton Drive, Ballycragh in Tallaght has been called a “lovely young man” ahead of his funeral on Friday in St Anne’s Church in Bohernabreena.
Friends of Mr Morris paid tribute to the father-of-two saying. “Great memories of Dano from our Firhouse Community College days. He was always happy, smiling and making everyone laugh,” said one person. “So sad to hear of his sudden passing.”
Morris leaves behind his partner Claire and two sons, Daniel and Brandon, as well as his parents Mary and Danny.
Those close to Mr Morris wrote on his Rip.ie page: “Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving family, brother James, sisters Launa and Lisa, mother-in-law Mary, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, relatives and a large circle of friends.”
At approximately 9pm last Friday, Mr Morris crashed his silver Volvo S40 into a steel barrier in a green on Limekiln Avenue.
According to a statement from Gardai, he made his way to Temple Manor Close in Greenhills where he knocked on the door of a number of houses and forced his way into two houses on Temple Manor Drive.
Gardai arrived at the scene where they say they were required to arrest and restrain him. As he was being removed from the house he became unresponsive and medical assistance was called.
Mr Morris was brought to Tallaght Hospital and was later pronounced dead. Gardai launched an investigation into his death. Social Democrats councillor Dermot Looney resides in the Temple Manor Estate. He said that neighbours were ‘traumatised’ by last week’s events.
Speaking to The Echo, Cllr Looney recalled learning of the incident. He said: “I live adjacent to where the incident happened. I came home on Friday about an hour after it occurred.
“My neighbours were very much in shock and still are. People are traumatised over what happened.”
Speaking for the residents in Temple Manor, Cllr Looney offered their condolences: “All of us give our sympathies to the man who died and his family.”
