December Team of the Month Ballyboden: St Enda’s U21 footballers
BALLYBODEN St Enda’s U21 footballers completed their 2023 season by winning the championship title after seeing off Ballymun Kickhams.
The Firhouse Road side, who overcame Ballinteer St John’s and Kilmacud Crokes in the previous rounds left their best performance until last when they brushed aside the challenge of Kickhams 0-16 to 1-1.
The victory rounded off a great month for Boden with their minor footballers also crowned county champions. Daire Sweeney was one of the stars of the show for Ballyboden, kicking 0-10 to his credit with six of those coming from frees.
With the game hanging in the balance at half-time, Boden showed their strength in depth in the final quarter with their forwards turning on the style.
“We are delighted to win the U21 Football Championship,” said Ballyboden St Enda’s mentor Liam O’Dwyer.
“It is a difficult championship to win and competition is always good, but it was just brilliant for the lads to win out in the end.
“All the hard work has paid off,” he added.
With the 2024 season only weeks away from starting, Boden have a strong pool of players to choose from.
