Driver (49) is found with two crack cocaine wraps in van for personal use

A DRIVER found with two crack cocaine wraps in his van for personal use was fined at Tallaght District Court.

Dan Brennan (49), Rossmore Drive, appeared before court, pleading guilty to the charge.

Garda Neil Lynch told the court that on January 26, 2025, gardai stopped a Ford Transit vehicle at Fortunestown Way, Tallaght.

A search of the vehicle found two wraps of crack cocaine.

Mr Brennan took ownership of the wraps.

The court heard he had been co-operative with gardai, was not working at this time but hoping to go back to work soon.

Defence counsel asked for leniency considering the small amount, co-operation of the defendant and first time for the offence. Judge Deirdre Gearty said given the substance involved it was serious and asked the defendant if he had a problem with the drug.

“I don’t think people graduate to crack cocaine on their first time,” said the Judge.

Judge Gearty fined the defendant €100 with five months to pay and remanded the case on continuing bail to Tallaght District Court, December 2, 2025.
