Driver charged with endangerment by driving at high speed breaking red light and crossing in front of Luas

A DRIVER accused of endangerment by breaking a red light, driving in front of a Luas and driving the wrong way down a road has been sent forward for trial to the Circuit Court.

Edward Stokes was before Judge David McHugh in Blanchardstown Court for service of his book of evidence.

Solicitor for the DPP, Orla Farrell, told Judge McHugh that the book of evidence was ready to be saved.

She said the DPP had consented for Stokes to be sent forward for trial to the next sitting of Dublin Circuit Court.

Stokes, aged 22, with an address at Oldcastle Park Green, Clondalkin, is charged with endangerment by driving at high speed at the junction of New Nangor Road/Naas Road, Clondalkin, breaking a red light and crossing in front of a Luas tram on October 3, 2016.

He is also charged with endangerment by driving on the wrong side of the road and passing a lane of stopped traffic at Kylemore Road also on October 3 last.

Stokes is also charged with endangerment by forcing a white Transit van off the road at Labre Park, Ballyfermot, also on October 3 last. He is also charged with damaging a concrete bollard at Labre Park on October 3, 2016.

Judge McHugh sent Stokes forward on bail to the next sitting of Dublin Circuit Court.
