Eamon was dedicated to Tallaght community
TRIBUTES have been made this week following the passing of former Tallaght Superintendent Eamon Dolan on Tuesday (September 24).
Mr Dolan worked in Tallaght Garda Station for 17 years and served as Superintendent for several years up until his retirement in 2012.
Shortly after this, Dolan was “persuaded” by local representatives to join Tallaght Drugs and Alcohol Taskforce as its Chairperson, a role he held for five years.
Former TD and Cllr Charlie O’Connor (FF) was among those who knew Mr Dolan well during his tenure.
“I’m deeply shocked, as many are from the people I have talked to, by the passing of Eamon Dolan,” said Mr O’Connor.
“In my view he made a considerable contribution during his time in Tallaght, particularly as a Superintendent. He had an open-door policy as anyone would tell you in the community and ensured his policing of the wider Tallaght area reflected that.
“On retirement he was persuade by a number of us to take on a role with the Tallaght Drugs and Alcohol Taskforce, which he did for five years. Any member of that group would talk of the dedication he brought. He really distinguished this by bringing his own experience to the role.”
A message on RIP.ie said Eamon Dolan (retired Garda Superintendent), Rathfarnham, and Monivea, Galway, died peacefully surrounded by his family after a short illness, in the tender and dignified care of the ICU Doctors, Nurses and support staff of St Vincent’s University Hospital on September 24.
