Eastern Regional success for Old Bawn

FOLLOWING on from their success at the Tallaght Garda Invitational Tournament, the Old Bawn second-year girls captured the Eastern Regional D League title following a 50-27 point win over Fingal CC in the Oblate Hall.

The Tallaght side enjoyed a great start with the opening basket from Hannah Prendergast, followed by scores from Stephie Nwakor and Liya Blessing Mbumu.

With Aimee McMullan and Alex Webb winning rebounds, Old Bawn ended the first quarter 10-2 in front.

Starting the second with another five, they maintained the momentum with some fast breaks by Mileha McCarton, a basket from Heather Jones and free throw shooting from Tara O’Doherty.

Kimberley Adjeude and Temi Adejumobi also made some great turnovers to help carve out a 26-7 point lead.

Ciaran Hanley and Temi Adebayo were introduced as Old Bawn ran their bench.
