Schools and kids urged to enter as Echo art competition returns

BUDDING young artists in the county are being invited to bring a splash of colour to this year’s Echo Young Artist of the Year competition – with the theme centering on taking care of our environment – and we are delighted to announce that we will once again have The Retail Park Liffey Valley as the competition’s main sponsor.
School classes and individual children can enter the competition where they can create masterpieces containing a drawing of their favourite animal, flower, park, or absolutely anything to do with nature.

The competition is separated into four categories, with individual categories for children aged four to seven years, and for children aged seven to 12 years.
There are two categories for school classes, with the junior category for children up to 2nd class, and a senior category for children up to 6th class.
There will be four individual winners and two overall class winners, who will receive arts and crafts materials and a voucher for The Retail Park Liffey Valley in recognition of their artistic flair.
Emma Kennedy of The Echo said: “Our young readers and primary school students are the next generation of Echo supporters.
“Each year we encourage them to be part of The Echo through their creativity – the Young Artist of the Year competition is great fun and a creative platform for our young local artists to get involved.”

“The response to the Young Artist of the Year 2017 was a huge success and together we aim to expand and grow this great competition.”
The competition is open now, with a closing date of May 7 at 5pm, and entries can be sent to The Echo Newspaper, Tallaght Enterprise Centre, Main Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24.
