THIS Christmas, The Echo is encouraging shoppers to gift their support to local businesses – helping to stimulate the local economy, employment and community spirit.

The Echo has this week launched its Shop Smart, Shop Local campaign in the run-up to Christmas, a campaign which hopes to remind shoppers of the great deals on offer with local businesses – and the competitiveness, quality and diversity available across communities like Tallaght, Clondalkin, Lucan, Rathfarnham, Templeogue, Saggart and Ballyfermot.

Shopping locally also has a positive ripple effect across communities, enhancing community goodwill and spirit.

Emma Kennedy, Managing Director of The Echo, said: “We have everything here in South Dublin County, from great restaurants, to shopping centres and small family-run businesses, to experienced tradesmen – all of which support the growth of the area and provide jobs to thousands of people.

“We have so many local businesses and services which offer quality products at competitive prices all year round, and they make a huge contribution to the development of our villages, local shopping centres and the community as a whole.

“When spending your euro this Christmas, why not look local and invest your euro into our local economy and support local business and workers, who are providing us with great services all year round.”

She added: “Book your Christmas night out locally, buy your turkey off one of the local farms or butchers, hire a local tradesman for any work that needs to be done in your home – there’s definitely no shortage of options on your doorstep.

“So, this Christmas Shop Smart, Shop Local and watch out for The Echo’s local campaign stamp.
