Echo Sport preview edition June 11

Cumann na mBunscoil 2 resizedThis week in Echo Sport the Cumann na mBunscol finals take centre-stage, with more than 15 local schools taking part over the two days in Croke Park. Among those included in our extensive coverage are Scoil Chrónain, Scoil Mharcais, Lucan Education Together, Gaelscoil Naomh Pádraig and Scoil Pius X. In what is always a fantastic culmination of the hurling and camogie schooling calendar, make sure to look out for your local school.

Elsewhere, our feature soccer game focuses on the battle for second place in the DDSL’s U11F1 division between Leicester Celtic and Knocklyon United. Both teams were locked in joint second after a long hard season, and so it all came down to Sunday’s clash, which was packed with quality and plenty of goals. Meanwhile, Templeogue Synge Street travelled to Round Tower Clondalkin in the Senior B Football Championship on Saturday, and Jason Joyce was on fire for the homeside in a tie that was tight and tense until the half-forward ended the contest in the second period.

In athletics, Donore Harriers’ John Travers was recently selected for the World University Games team, and we have news on this, while there is also news on Adamstown Cycling Club’s Fergus Whelan who performed excellently at the recent Meath Grand prix. Also included in this week’s Echo Sport is Firhouse’s Niall Murray who was in action in the Seat Supercup Ireland Series, and his pole position in qualification was followed by a very strong drive in Mondello.

As always you’ll find a huge amount of other local sporting news bites across the pages, and if you have a sporting story then drop us an email at sport@echo.ie or contact us via the Echo Sport Facebook page.
