Killian Callaghan 201506040028 resizedIn this week’s Echo Sport we hear from 17-year-old mountain biker Killian Callaghan from Walkinstown who once again proved he has a bright future ahead of him at the weekend when he finished second in the junior class of the UEC European Enduro Championships in Austria. With an 11th place finish overall, Callaghan is quickly making a name for himself on the Irish and European mountain biking circuit, and we speak to him about his latest success and what lies ahead.

Lucan’s Jenny Egan also speaks to Echo Sport about her superb performance in the K1 5000km canoeing competition at the on-going European Games in Baku, and she explains her aspiration’s for the next 12 months, including hopefully securing qualification for the Olympic Games in Rio. Meanwhile, local athletes were part of the Irish team that secured a best ever finish at the European Athletics Team Championships recently, and we have all the news on their sixth place finish, while we have pictures and news of the recent Philip Reynolds Memorial Shoot for Beginners, which was run by Greenhills Archers in the National Basketball Arena.

In soccer, the Dublin Women’s Soccer League clash between Brookfield Celtic and Greenhills is our feature match, and there was no shortage of goals on a night that saw two players battling it out for top scorer. We have news on the success of Sacred Heart FC’s Football For All programme, and we also have all the latest on the impressive achievement’s of the Irish Cerebral Palsy football team who have all but qualified for the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio after a very successful CP Football World Championships in Staffordshire, which is still running. In GAA, Thomas Davis’ tie with Na Gaeil Óga takes centre stage, plus we have plenty of other bits and pieces ahead of the Dublin footballers taking to Croke Park this weekend.
