Festive cheer is in the air as communities prepare to celebrate Christmas.

Over 200 Santas braved the elements for the annual Laurels Cycle Crew in chilly weather, raising €10k for Ronald McDonald House in Crumlin.

This year the crew also raised €47k for brain injury support group Headway.

Dublin County Council has allocated €4,475,400 in the Revenue Budget for 2024 for Homeless Services including additional staff and supports, directly and through the Dublin Region Homeless Executive.  

New library for Citywest

Plans for the development of a new €7.95m library in Citywest were unveiled at a council meeting.

Set to be located in Citywest Shopping Centre, the facility is expected to be completed by mid-2026.

Confirmation of the purchase of the Italian ambassador’s residence, Lucan House, by South Dublin County Council was announced officially.

It is understood that the local authority has bought the house and adjoining lands in a deal worth nearly €15m.

The National Basketball Arena in Tymon Park is set to get a €35 million revamp after planning permission was submitted.

The news announced by Basketball Ireland for the redevelopment will see the new multi-sport and multi-use arena double its capacity to 3,300.

Rhasidat Adeleke returns to Tallaght after her most successful year on the track

Rhasidat Adeleke returns to Tallaght Athletics Club track on the Greenhills Road where it all started for the 21-year-old. 

She reflected on one of her most successful years on the track with University of Texas, turning professional, U23 Athlete of the Year winner and looking forward to 2024 Olympic Games.
