CALLS were made for the Minister for Justice and or the Garda Commissioner to attend a Joint Policing Meeting in South Dublin County for questioning about Garda resources, or lack thereof, in the area.

Tallaght Garda Station increased policing patrols in West Tallaght following a series of “life-threatening” incidents in Jobstown.

They included an alleged arson attack at a house in De Selby – and shots were fired at a house in Jobstown while children were cycling nearby.

The population of South Dublin County is set to increase by 50 per cent, according to outgoing South Dublin County Council chief executive Daniel McLoughlin.

During his farewell speech, Mr McLoughlin estimated that 150,000 people will be arriving in “so fast” in addition to the 300,000 people living across 100,000 homes in the county.

Former Mayor Peter Kavanagh and Jackie Fox

Jackie Fox, the mother of Clondalkin’s Nicole ‘Coco’ Fox, who died by suicide in 2018 at age 21, spoke at the European Parliament in Brussels about the dangers of cyber bullying.

The head of a statue of Our Lady was broken off again – a year after it was previously damaged outside St Mark’s Church in Tallaght.

Strong opposition to plans for a 3G pitch in Knocklyon Park – a project expected to cost over €1m – was expressed at a public meeting held in the clubhouse at Ballyboden St Enda’s GAA Club, with the club vowing to fight “tooth and nail” to keep the existing pitch, scheduled to make way for the new 3G facility.
