EdgeConneX granted permission for expansion to Grange Castle operation
DIGITAL solutions and content provider EdgeConneX Ireland Ltd have been granted planning permission for an expansion to it’s Grange Castle operation.
Second phase plans by the company contain proposals for the construction of a new single storey data hall of 4,176 sq.m.
The extension is set to be located to the south of a previously permitted data centre (5,776 sq.m), which was granted permission in 2016.
Plans contain proposals for associated support services, five standby generators, a temporary gas powered plant, with a walled yard containing 12 generator units with associated flues located to the rear of the Takeda Ireland complex.
The development will also include a new two storey ESB substation (507sq.m) with associated transformer yard and single storey transformer building.
An Environmental Impact Statement was submitted with the application.
In August, South Dublin County Council granted permission for EdgeConnex to construct a single storey data centre.
The US firm have built 23 data centres across the USA since 2013, and expanded their infrastructure services to Europe in 2016, beginning with a data centre in Amsterdam.
