Exciting line-up for Orchard’s Actavo Cup
CHERRY Orchard have announced an exciting line-up for their 2018 Actavo Cup Under 13 Tournament scheduled for September 14-16 in Elmdale.
Indeed teams representing Liverpool, Newcastle, Swansea, Glasgow Celtic and Aberdeen have all been confirmed to take part along with the FAI’s Under 13 International squad, defending champions St Patrick’s Athletic and the host club.
While last year’s inaugural competition catered for Under 14 teams, the organisers of this year’s event have opted to reduce the age level to Under 13 to tie in with the establishment of the new National Under 13 League next season.
Delighted at the club securing another high-quality line-up for the 2018 competition, Actavo Cup Tournament Director Mark O’Neill told Echo.ie “Cherry Orchard is 61 years getting players like Andy Reid and Jonny Hayes over to the UK and they’re still doing it, so the club has massive links over there in the UK and beyond.
“It’s a huge brand now. The Actavo Cup is part of our expansion plans and it’s going to be brilliant.
“When you look at the fan base for the likes of Liverpool and Celtic in the area, can you just imagine what the crowds will be like at this year’s tournament?” he said.
St Patrick’s Athletic raised last year’s Actavo Cup following their victory over neighbours Cherry Orchard in the decider with Aberdeen finishing third.
