Exciting table quiz final decided on a tie-breaker

A TEAM of students from the Divine Word National School in Rathfarnham won the final of the annual South Dublin Libraries Inter-Schools Table Quiz last week.

The nail-biting final took place in North Clondalkin Library last Wednesday, April 10, with the Divine Word group emerging victorious after a tense tie-breaker after three teams were joint first place.

The two other teams were recognised for their strong contributions, with a team from Scoil Maelruain in Tallaght coming second, while St Pius X National School in Templeogue were third.

“The atmosphere at the quiz was competitive and exciting,” said Des Mullally from South Dublin Libraries.

“The standard of quizzing was very high, and the result was only decided by a nail-biting tie-breaker round.”

All of the 18 teams that competed were composed of skilled competitors, who qualified for the final because they finished in the top three in one of six first-round quizzes.

These quizzes were held across the county last month in Ballyroan, Castletymon, Clondalkin, Lucan, North Clondalkin and Tallaght libraries before the winners were selected to compete in the final.

The final was attended by the Mayor, Cllr Alan Edge and the county librarian, Paul Fusco, who joined in the quiz as a ‘Special Guest’ team and came sixth.
