Family taking part in Movember to raise funds in honour of Trisha

A FAMILY are taking part in Movember to raise funds for Our Lady’s Hospice in honour of Trisha Kelly, their sister, daughter, aunt, mother, and wife who tragically passed away last month after a battle with renal cancer.

They have also planned a fundraising event in Molloy’s Bar and Grill on Saturday, December 1 where there will be a raffle with spot prizes and culminate when the lads shave off their upper-lip fluff.

53-year-old Trisha Kelly had been complaining with pains since last December, and after a family holiday in Bulgaria in June of this year she was diagnosed with stage four renal cancer the following month.

Trisha’s brother Liam Gleeson told The Echo that their family “really appreciate the work Our Lady’s hospice have done” for them and that people shouldn’t have to fundraise for the hospital.

He said: “It’s disgraceful that individuals have to fundraise to be able to have their loved ones be comfortable in their dying days.

“To witness somebody in your own family dying is horrific, it’s unfair that families have to witness it.”

After her initial diagnosis of renal cancer, Trisha, who lived in Glenview Park with her husband Pat, was told her condition was treatable only to be told a week later that she had stage four cancer.

Three-months after her shock diagnosis, she passed away on October 14 in her home and was later cremated in Newlands Cross Crematorium following the removal from St Aengus’ Church on October 17.

Donations to Our Lady’s Hospice in honour of Trisha can be made on the day of the fundraising event or to give.everydayhero.com/ie/in-memory-of-trisha-kelly
