Fine of €100 for driving untaxed Merc

A LUCAN man who was driving an untaxed 16D Mercedes Benz, and then gave a false name and address to a garda, left Blanchardstown District Court with a €100 fine.

Judge David McHugh heard that Arthur Stokes had criminal convictions outside the jurisdiction.

Stokes, aged 24, with an address at Kishogue Park, Lucan, pleaded guilty to giving a false name and address at the Circle K, Ninth Lock Road, Clondalkin, on April 2, 2019.

Sergeant Maria Callaghan told Judge David McHugh that on the above date, a garda stopped Stokes driving a 16D Mercedes-Benz car as there was no tax displayed on the vehicle.

She said that Stokes gave his named as “Jason Stokes”. Sgt Callaghan said Stokes was arrested and taken to Clondalkin Garda Station where he later revealed his true name and address.

She said Stokes had 15 previous convictions and she added that the most recent convictions “were outside of this jurisdiction”, which included one from Newry and Mourne District Court. Convicting, Judge McHugh fined Stokes €100.
