Sergeant Geraldine McManigan told Judge David McHugh that at 4am on July 2 last, gardai had been called to Kylemore Road as a man was observed in a highly intoxicated state.

She said when the gardai arrived they found Carrie to be unsteady on his feet and  highly intoxicated. Sgt McManigan said Carrie was arrested for his own safety.

She said Carrie had 11 previous convictions.

At Court 2 in Blanchardstown he had been placed on a 12-month Probation Bond for simple possession of drugs.

At Court 44 in 2009 he had been fined €100 for public drunkenness and breaching the peace.

Carrie’s solicitor said his client had too much to drink on the night in question.

Convicting, Judge McHugh fined Carrie €80.
