Firhouse CS students present €4k cheque to Pieta from shed raffle

STUDENTS at Firhouse Community College handed over a cheque to Pieta for €4,323 after raffling off a shed they built from scratch.

The transition year students and staff at the school handed over the cheque on Tuesday, March 1, to the suicide prevention charity.

As previously reported by The Echo, the group of students, alongside a special education teacher, decided to build the shed themselves to raffle off. The students said that they chose Pieta as the charity to donate for the proceeds of the raffle in light of the pandemic and an increased number of people suffering from mental health issues.

The draw for the shed took place on December 22, and the school raised an incredible €4,323 which has been donated to Pieta.

The unusual initiative was entirely student-led, where all of the measuring, cutting, hammering, and painting for the shed was completed by the students through weeks of hard work and dedication to the project.
