OVER €30,000 was raised for Tallaght Town AFC at a stomach-churning I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here-style event in the Citywest Hotel.

A crowd of more than 600 people attended the event, which saw 24 contestants take on a range of gruelling bush-tucker trials and challenges, which included eating concoctions of fish guts and blended meat and being placed in a see-through coffin while surrounded by snakes and other critters.

After pushing through the series of challenges, the 24 contestants were then whittled down to two – Sarah McNamee and Jason Byrne, with Jason ultimately being victorious and being crowned the winner.

Paul Ratcliffe, the PRO of Tallaght Town AFC, told The Echo: “It was amazing. It was absolutely jam-packed – we sold over 700 tickets.”

The event was organised by Laura Ratcliffe and Rachel Byas with support from Onno Schunk and raised over €30,000, which will go towards the development of a clubhouse for Tallaght Town AFC.
