Football club stage fun run to raise funds for training costs

COLLINSTOWN Football Club held a sponsored fun run in Collinstown Park to cover training costs for the winter for all of their teams.

With the extra cost of astro pitch fees in the wintertime, parents have found it difficult to pay the extra subs needed to ensure that the schoolboys and girls have adequate training facilities to use.

Collinstown Football Club Head Coordinator Dean Carpenter told The Echo, “From the under 8s to the under 18s, each player got a sponsor card to fill over the last few weeks. Some of their families also took cards to bolster the total we could raise.”

“When we launched the initiative last season, it was a huge success and took the pressure off the parents to pay for the Astros every week.”

Sponsor cards are all due back so the club will then be able to put a figure on the total raised but they very much hope for another tidy sum.

Collinstown Football Club have over 400 members from their academy/Schoolboy/Girls section all the way up to their senior teams section.

The club recently received huge news that Collinstown Park Pavilion Program, which would provide new and up to date changing facilities has moved to part 8 planning.

This is long overdue for this fast-growing club. Dean told us, “We’re always looking for more volunteers to get involved as the club continues to grow, so please reach out to any of the Collinstown FC social media accounts or email collinstown2007@gmail.com
