Four-year ban for driver with no insurance
A DRIVER who got a 15-year sentence for manslaughter 17 years ago has been sentenced to 120 hours community service in Blanchardstown District Court for no insurance.
Judge David McHugh also banned John Doyle from driving for four years.

Doyle, aged 52, with an address at Moyglass Road, Lucan, had pleaded guilty to having no insurance and no driving licence at Cloverhill Road, Clondalkin, on July 16, 2018.
He was before Judge McHugh for sentencing, to hear the facts and for a probation report.
Sergeant Maria Callaghan told the court that the gardai had been operating a checkpoint on the above date and they stopped Doyle who was driving an Opel Astra because his insurance disc was out of date and it was for another car.
She said Doyle was asked to produce his driving licence and he had none. Sgt Callaghan said the car was seized and Doyle was arrested and taken to Clondalkin Garda Station. Sgt Callaghan said Doyle had received a four-year ban for no insurance in Blanchardstown Court in 2018.
The court also heard that Doyle had been sentenced to 15 years in the Central Criminal Court on July 19, 2002, for manslaughter and robbery.
Doyle’s counsel, Ciaran MacLoughlin Bl, said his client is a father of seven children and is currently homeless and was homeless at the time of the incident before the court. He said Doyle had been sleeping in his car on the date in question.
Judge McHugh said he had read the report. He said he would take the case “at its highest point” and sentenced Doyle to 120 hours community service with four months jail in default and banned him from driving for four years.
