Fun loving Lorraine will be missed by family and friends

TRIBUTES have poured in for a Tallaght woman who passed away after she lost her battle with a long-standing illness.

Lorraine McDonagh sadly passed away at Tallaght University Hospital surrounded by her family on October 17, 2021.

Lorraine, who is from Springfield, worked in the post office in Kilnamanagh and was much loved and respected by many in the Tallaght community.

Lorraine passed away from pneumonia, due to complications caused by her ten-year battle with an autoimmune disease called vasculitis, which is an inflammation of the blood vessels.

Described as “kind, funny, loving” by her family, Lorraine was known for her infectious smile and will be missed by all.

“Lorraine was a strong, amazing, courageous woman and she fought for so long,” Lorraine’s cousin Tracy told The Echo.

“She was always someone that anyone could go to if you had a problem. It was the whole community that knew her.

“She had a heart of gold and loved her family and friends so much. Our hearts are broken and we will cherish our memories with her forever.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up by Lorraine’s friends to help her family cover funeral expenses.

The message on the GoFundMe page reads: “Our aim is to raise money in order to fund the expenses associated with Lorraine’s passing. These include but are not limited to funeral costs and all family affairs.

“Whatever you can give, no matter how big or small will be greatly received. Please feel free to comment when donating and we will endeavour to show all comments to the family.”

“I just want to thank the whole community for their love and support because they have just been amazing and we have been blown away by everyone,” Tracy added.
