GAA player praises ‘warriors of light’

MORE than 50 young people have graduated from a peer education training programme run by Jigsaw Clondalkin, a programme geared towards promoting positive mental health.

The graduation ceremony was held in the Clarion Hotel, Liffey Valley last week with Dublin GAA player Kevin McManamon there to congratulate the successful students.

McManamon described the newly trained peer educators as “warriors of the light”.

The young people are now trained to deliver a workshop to their fellow classmates that encourages them to seek help if they’re struggling with their mental health, and to relay the importance of having at least one good adult in their lives.

The graduates are students from a number of local schools, including Lucan Community College, Adamstown Community College, St Joseph’s College, Coláiste Bríde, Moyle Park College, St Kevin’s Community College, Collinstown Park Community College and Pobalscoil Iosólde Palmerstown.
