Garda ‘pro arrest’ policy in relation to breach of orders
GARDAI have a “pro-arrest policy” in relation to breach of domestic violence orders, but a support service for victims say clients wish there was an “anti-release policy” in cases where the perpetrator is back out shortly after posting bail.
The issue of domestic violence, which increased dramatically during lockdowns when people were stuck at home, is a regular talking point at policing meetings in South Dublin County over the last couple of years.
