Gardai appeal for information after cash in transit robbery in Bluebell

Gardaí are investigating a cash in transit robbery which occurred at La Touche Road, Bluebell, Dublin 12 on Thursday afternoon at approximately 3.35pm.

Two men, one believed to be armed with a handgun approached and threatened security staff as they were delivering cash to a Post Office.

The two men took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene in a grey coloured Volkswagen Golf, partial registration 07 D which was waiting on Bluebell Avenue.

This car was being driven by a third man and left the scene in the direction of Kylemore Road.

Gardaí recovered a grey coloured Volkswagen Golf close to the scene, a short time later. This car was stolen on the 9th February 2016.

The first suspect is described as being, male, early to mid 20’s, 5’7″ in height and of thin build. He was wearing a dark coloured hooded top with the hood pulled up. A chequered scarf covered his face.

The second man is described as being aged in his mid 20’s, 5’9″ in height and of thin build. He also wore a dark coloured hooded top and had his face covered. Both men spoke with Dublin accents. The driver of the Volkswagen Golf is not described.

The scene was preserved and technically examined and no injuries were reported.

As part of the on-going investigation a car was stopped on Francis St, Dublin 8 by Gardaí from Kevin St., at approximately 12.01 am this morning.

The car and driver were searched and a sum of money was discovered.A 19-year-old man was arrested and is currently being detained at Kevin St Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
