Gardai investigating fatal traffic accident involving woman in 80s

Gardai are investigating and appealing for witnesses following a fatal traffic collision involving a woman in her 80s in Rathfarnham yesterday (Wednesday).
According to a Garda statement released this morning: “Gardaí and emergency services attended a single vehicle road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian at Woodside Grove, Rathfarnham, on October 10 at approximately 4.40pm.”
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to the mortuary at Tallaght Hospital for post-mortem.
The female driver of the vehicle, who is also in her 80s, was taken to St James’s Hospital with minor injuries.
A technical and forensic examination of the scene has been completed and the road has since re-opened to traffic.
