Gardai release one man in relation to Kenneth O’Brien murder probe

Gardai have released without charge one of the people arrested in relation to the murder of Kenneth O’Brien from Clondalkin.

The two men were arrested on Saturday morning and were being questioned at Leixlip garda station.

The released man is aged in his 30’s, and a file will now be prepared for the information of The Director of Public Prosecutions.

The other man arrested, who is in his 50’s, remains in custody.

Mr O’Brien’s torso was found in a suitcase on the Grand Canal south of Celbridge, Co Kildare, almost four weeks ago.

He had been shot dead and dismembered, with parts of his body recovered from the canal after almost two weeks of searches.
