Gardai seize firearm and ammunition in Saggart

GARDAI seized a firearm and arrested a man as part of searches in the Saggart area on Sunday afternoon. 

According to a Garda statement issued, officers attached to the Dublin Crime Response Team (DCRT) carried out the search on October 22 and seized a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.

The statement said: “The firearm will now be sent on to the Ballistics Section of the Garda Technical Bureau to undergo analysis.
 
“A man (70s) was arrested at the scene.

“He has since been released from Garda custody. A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.”
 
Investigations ongoing, gardai said.
