
Gardai target supply of drugs into Wheatfield and Cloverhill Prisons
Gardai seized cash in excess of €180,000, a designer watch,worth €10,000 and several mobile phones as part of an ongoing investigation into the supply of substances into Wheatfield and Cloverhill Prisons.
Gardai from Ronanstown conducted a search of a residence on Friday and arrested a 42-year-old man who is currently detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda Station in the Dublin Region.
The operation follows a previous seizure involving a drone and quantity of diamorphine intended for supply into a West Dublin prison on February 12.

A Garda statement released on Saturday morning said: “As part of an ongoing operations targeting the supply of controlled substances into prisons in the West Dublin area, Gardai from the Drugs Unit in Ronanstown conducted a search of a residential property in west Dublin on Friday, 23rd February 2024.
“During the search, cash in excess of €180,000, in various denominations, was seized. Additionally, a designer watch valued at €10,000 and several mobile phones were confiscated.
“A 42-year-old male was arrested and is currently detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda Station in the Dublin Region.
“This operation follows a previous seizure involving a drone and a quantity of diamorphine intended for delivery into a west Dublin prison on 12th February 2024”.
The incidents are part of a local initiative under Operation Tara, targeting the supply of drugs into Wheatfield and Cloverhill Prisons.
