Gardai: “You takeaway chips, we takeaway car”
Gardai seized a car last night from a driver who had no tax, insurance or NCT, with the driver drawing attention to the vehicle by parking illegally while they went for a bag of chips.
As is the case now for many road traffic offences, the Garda Twitter account shared a picture of the car, with the message: “Car parked illegally, driver was buying chips.

Known for seeing the lighter side of things, those who manage the Garda Twitter account also shared a picture of a car that was clocked doing 122kph in a 100kph zone.

The vehicles’ registration was also not visible, which is illegal, and the Garda attached the message: !Another one bites the dust! Monaghan Traffic Unit on the N2 detect car driving at 122kph in 100 zone.”
Meanwhile, a truck driver in Cork was stopped on the motorway for carrying an unsecure load, with the message: “Quick sand!!! Driver stopped on the motorway in Cork for unsecure load. Driver not using tachograph. Court to follow. Life’s a beach.”
