Girl (9) dies at Tallaght swimming pool after suddenly taking ill
A child has died tonight (Friday) following a tragic incident at a swimming pool in Tallaght.
The nine-year-old girl was at the Sports Complex in Balrothery when it is believed she took ill just before 7pm.
A number of units from Dublin Fire brigade attended the scene, including advanced paramedics.
Speaking to Echo.ie this evening, a Garda spokesperson said: “A nine-year-old girl died tonight at a swimming pool in Tallaght.
“She was treated at the scene and was later transferred to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin.
“She was pronounced dead a short time later.”
It is understood the girl had underlying health issues and Gardai are not treating her death as suspicious at this time.
