‘Glorification of criminality’ at funerals is mockery of our faith

A POWERFUL sermon by a Tallaght-based priest took aim at the “glorification of criminality” that took place during some recent funerals and vowed to never let it happen again under his stewardship.

Speaking during a service last week, Fr William O’Shaughnessy, parish priest for Springfield, Jobstown and Brookfield, said he was accepting “responsibility for the glorification of criminality” that has taken place and wanted to apologise to all who have been “scandalised” by the “blatant mockery of our Christian faith.”
