AN application for planning permission for the construction of a 148-unit residential development in the Adamstown Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) in Lucan has been granted permission by South Dublin County Council.

Developer Hugh McGreevy & Sons and Tierra Ltd lodged an application with the local authority last August, seeking permission for the development of 12 four-bed, semi-detached houses, 64 three-bed terraced houses, and three apartment blocks.

It was proposed that Block A would contain 16 apartments/ duplexes, to consist of eight one-bed apartments and eight three-bed apartments, while Block B would have 24 apartments, to consist of 12 one-bed apartments and 12 three-bed apartments.

Block C is to contain 32 apartments, to consist of six one-bed apartments and 26 two-bed apartments.

Provision for all site development works – including the development of new internal roads and footpaths, site access, public open space, car- and cycle-parking, landscaping, foul and surface water drainage, boundary walls and fences and all associated site works – were included in the application.

The 3.2 hectare site of the proposed development is located entirely within the boundary of Adamstown Strategic Development Zone, according to the developer’s planning application, and will be accessed via an access point in the south of the application site off Adamstown Drive.

South Dublin County Council granted permission for the development this month, with a number of conditions.

These conditions include the provision that each unit shall be occupied as a single dwelling unit for residential purposes, and that a tree survey will be carried out three years after the works have been completed.
