Grants of €66k given to 38 groups
Thirty-eight Community and Sports Development grants totalling almost €66,000 have been approved for 38 local groups.
This is what the council informed councillors at last week’s full council meeting.
Of the 38 grants, sixteen were Community Development Grants and cost almost €26,000.
There were three Community Events Funding grants which came to almost €3,000 and there were 19 Sports Development Grants which came to over €37,000.
Elaine Leech, director of Housing, Social and Community , presented the details of the grants to the councillors.
Amongst the top recipients of grants were Adamstown Cricket Club and Marks Celtic Football Club who both received Sports Development grants of €6,000 for equipment.
An Garda Síochána also received €500 under the Sports Development Grants.
“That grant is in respect of a basketball event that they are arranging for the local community,” said Ms Leech, responding to a query from Councillor Eoin Ó Broin (Soc Dems).
