PERMISSION has been granted for the development of 237 dwellings in the townlands of Dodsboro and Finnstown, in the Adamstown Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) in Lucan.

Developer DRES Properties lodged an application with South Dublin County Council last July, seeking planning permission for the extensive residential development.

It is proposed that the development will consist of a mixture of terraced, semi-detached and detached houses, and duplexes and apartments.

The 119 apartments are to be housed in four blocks, which will vary in height from two to five storeys, and the majority of the apartments, which include one-, two- and three-bed apartments, will be one-bed units.

Of the 98 houses, 67 will be two-storey, three-bedroom houses, 15 are to be two-storey, four-bedroom houses, six are to be three-storey, four-bedroom houses, and ten are to be part three-storey, part two-storey, four-bedroom houses.

Provision of 1367 sq m of public open space and 318 car parking spaces, re-alignment of the northern section of Tandy’s Lane from a point to the north of the entrance to Somerton House to its junction with Adamstown Drive, is also included in the plans.

South Dublin County Council granted permission for the development on October 15, with a number of conditions.

These conditions include the development of suitable play opportunities for the future children in the development, the retention of a qualified landscape architect throughout the life of the construction works, and that none of the residential units can be subdivided or used for commercial purposes.
