Green light for Citywest village
By Laura Lyne
A DEVELOPMENT that includes almost 400 houses and apartments for a site located in Citywest has been granted permission by South Dublin County Council.
The site is located adjacent to Ard Mor and at the roundabout of Citywest Shopping Centre and covers an area of 12.45 hectares.
It was granted permission on November 13 and will see 339 houses and 60 apartments constructed as part of the plans, which will also include the development of a creche, kiosk and retail unit.
When constructed, the development is expected to be known as “Citywest Village” and will replicate urban villages currently located across Dublin in areas such as Ranelagh and Sandymount.
The applicant, Talarive Ltd, a subsidiary of Citywest Business Campus developers Davy Hickey Properties said in its application that it intends “to continue to bring the same standards and quality to this residential development as our business campus development with a particular emphasis on master planning, landscaping and the built environment”.
It continued: “This scheme will provide much needed family housing, compliment surrounding users and local services, makes efficient use of the public transport infrastructure and will create an excellent quality housing environment”.
Following the grant of permission, work on the first phase of the development is expected to begin on the site in Spring 2016.
