Heavy rain expected in Dublin as Met Eireann issue Status Yellow rainfall warning

Strong winds and heavy rain can be expected across Dublin tomorrow as the latest storm to hit the country reaches the capital – dumping accumulations of up to 50 millimetres of rain.

As the clean-up after Hurricane Ophelia continues in many parts of the country, Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow rainfall warning for parts of Leinster and Munster.

The warning comes into effect from 12 midnight on Thursday and will continue remain in place for 24 hours.

In the latest update from Met Eireann, they said: “Rainfall warning for Munster, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow and Meath.

“Heavy rain is expected with accumulations between 20 and 50 millimetres possible.”

It is advised that people take the relevant precautions during the warning period and adhere to warnings from authorities.
