High Res Lighting wins Dublin region in National Enterprise Awards
BALLYMOUNT based company High Res Lighting were the regional winner for Dublin at the final of the National Enterprise Awards.
The Emmy award winning company were representing South Dublin County and backed by the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) South Dublin.
Led by founder and VP specialist Peter Canning, High Res Lighting are one of the few leading companies in Europe that provide virtual production and green screen replacement for large film and TV production companies and studios.
An experienced full service creative production firm, High Res started out as a pure lighting design company 25 years ago, but expanded into the world of virtual production and green screen replacement.
Their technology facilitates the creation of virtual environments, and enables them to be physically shot ‘in camera’, rather than added in in post-production.
The Ballymount company have been involved in some high profile projects, including the XXII Olympic Winter Games, Sochi, Riverdance 25th Anniversary and RTE’s 1916 Centenary Concert.
They were also involved in the 2019 Best FIFA Football Awards, pre-programming the lighting and design at their state-of-the art Ballymount studio, before flying out to Milan with the footage on a USB stick.
In a recent interview with industry ACM SIGGRAPH, Mr Canning said his company are hoping to release a few of their current projects in post later this year, such as the Liam Neeson feature film “Retribution” (Studio Canal) and Neil Gaiman’s “Anansi Boys” (Prime Video).
“The exciting thing with this industry is that some of the techniques we used 12 months ago have now been totally updated and superseded with amazing new technologies and methods.
I find this speed of development both scary and incredibly exciting,” said Mr Canning.
