The man, aged 49 was known as a regular visitor to the homeless service in Tus Nua
In The Echo edition of September 4 we reported up a 100 people homeless on one night in the area.
Gardaí confirmed to The Echo that the body of a man was found at Hazelhatch, Newcastle at 5.15pm on Tuesday and that it was being treated as an incident of sudden death.
There was no suspicion in relation to the nature of the mans death.
The Echo understands that the man in question was attending Tus Nua in for its homeless service, which occurs every Monday to Friday for one hour.
Contrary to its work with those suffering from addiction, Tus Nua also provides this service – which provides food and a hot shower for those in dire need.
When the man failed to turn up for the service on Monday morning, workers began to worry and contacted the family.
