Huge fundraising event launched for Daisy

A huge fundraising event will be held in Tallaght later this month for Daisy McDonald – a four-year-old girl from Bohernabreena who suffers from a rare genetic neurological development disorder known as Retts Syndrome.

The event on Wednesday 28 June in the Kiltipper Bar and Café will feature comedian Dave Young and Enya Martin (Giz a Laugh’s Chanto), along with tribute acts and plenty more.

Daisy’s condition now requires her to be on a BiBAP machine for up to 22 hours a day, which helps her breathe, while she also has chronic lung disease and experiences daily seizures and body spasm which can be extremely painful.

Daisy’s family hope to bring her home in the future, and the fundraising effort will go towards building a unit outside where they can store the ever-growing amount of medical equipment Daisy needs.

Added to this, the family want to create a sensory area which will bring comfort to the young girl who has shown a huge amount of bravery in her short life

A bucket list of things to do with Daisy to fill her life with joy and laughter is also being created, and you can donate HERE, while tickets can be purchased for the fundraising night from the Kiltipper Cafe and Bar or from the Daisy Days Facebook page HERE.

Check out this week’s Echo for more on Daisy’s story and the fundraising efforts of her family, which includes her sister Ellie who was awarded the ‘Heart of ‘Gold’ at last year’s Tallaght Person of the Year for the care and love she shows her sister.
