Ice Warning: ‘Hazardous conditions’ as temperatures drop

A NATIONAL Status Yellow ice warning is in place from 6pm this evening, March 6, until 10am tomorrow morning.

According to a Met Éireann weather warning, hazardous conditions due to freezing temperatures are expected, including icy stretches on roads and paths.

In Dublin, Met Éireann has forecast very cold weather with lowest temperatures of between 0 and -3 degrees leading to widespread sharp frost with possible icy stretches.

Tuesday in Dublin will be cold but generally dry with plenty of sunshine too.

Highest temperatures will range just 3 to 6 degrees, with light to moderate northerly winds.

Nationally, temperatures could fall to -5 degrees, with wintry outbreaks expected right up until the weekend.

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) is encouraging all motorists to slow down and drive a safe distance from the vehicle in front – and to look out for vulnerable road users.
