FRESH from releasing their debut EP, the Irish ska band Interskalactic are gearing up for a headline show in Whelan’s this weekend.

The 11-piece band, which includes members from Crumlin and Lucan, released their self-titled EP last month.

The band first formed in 2013, and are seasoned live performers who list shows at Vicar Street, The Workman’s Club and Electric Picnic among their past performances.

Kev Foran, who is the band’s trumpet player, told Echo.ie: “There will be loads of energy, loads of messing and big sounds.”

The Crumlin resident added that alongside playing their own original songs, Interskalactic also play some big band songs, old school Jamaican ska and covers of modern songs in a ska style.

The band are now touring around Ireland in support of their new EP, and Kev has some words of encouragement for anyone thinking of coming to see the Whelan’s gig: “Come to the gig and I guarantee you will come out smiling.

“You’ll definitely have a good time.”

Interskalactic are playing Whelan’s this Saturday April 8, tickets are available online here for €10, or €12 on the door.
