Ireland women aim to rock Tallaght!

HEAD Coach Vera Pauw and her Republic of Ireland senior women’s team will be hoping that Tallaght Stadium will be rocking ahead of tonight’s UEFA 2021 European Championship qualifier against Greece.

The girls in green have some unfinished business with their Group I opponents after having shipped a stoppage time equaliser that cost them two valuable points in their last encounter back in November.

On that occasion it was former Peamount United striker Amber Barrett who had propelled them in front with a goal 13 minutes in only to see their hosts hit back at the death.

Ireland currently sit second in the table, five points adrift of Germany who have played a game more.

Greece have everything to play for as a win tonight would see them draw level with Ireland who will be skippered by Tallaght’s Katie McCabe.

Also possibly in the line-up could be Barrett’s former team mate and current Peamount captain Aine O’Gorman who came out of retirement to help the injury-hit Ireland squad.

A number of other Peamount players have also been named in the Ireland panel, including defender Claire Walsh, midfielder Niamh Farrelly and goalkeeper Niamh Reid Burke along with former Peamount captain Louise Quinn of Arsenal.

Victory tonight will set Ireland up nicely for their away clash with Montenegro next Wednesday.
