THE Irish Girl Guides (IGG) has lodged an application to South Dublin County Council for planning permission for the renovation of and modifications to Unit 2, The Square Industrial Complex at Belgard Sq East, Tallaght.

The group was previously tipped as being a potential buyer for the former offices of solicitor BP O’Reilly in Tallaght village back in 2017, but a sale was never finalised.

In their application for planning permission for the unit at The Square Industrial Complex, the IGG are seeking permission for the renovation and modifications to the original building, including a change of use to instead house an office, training, and a distribution centre.

Proposed changes to the existing internal layout include the removal of an internal fire-stair, an extended mezzanine area, additional new toilets, external windows and modifications to the roller-door on the rear elevation, along with new signage to the front elevation.

A decision on the IGG application for planning permission is due from the council by March 26.

Unit 2 of The Square Industrial Complex was previously on the market by real estate agents William Harvey with a guide price of €550,000 before being sold.

Surrounding occupiers include An Post, Dublin Climbing Centre, South Dublin County Council and Demesne Electrical.
