Irish Red Cross Tallaght Branch are ‘delighted’ with open night
OVER 20 people attended an open night for the Tallaght branch of the Irish Red Cross on Monday evening.
The event was held in Tallaght University Hospital and attendees got to discover more about their local branch of the Irish Red Cross and how they can get involved.
The open night featured CPR demonstrations and Deputy Mayor Alan Hayes was also in attendance.
Elaine Boyd from the Tallaght branch of the Irish Red Cross told The Echo: “A few of the people who came signed forms to sign up, and others said they’d come back and sign as new members.
“They were delighted with the open night, and hopefully it will help us to build up the branch and to train people up in first aid.”
The Tallaght branch is staffed by volunteers who offer first aid at various events, and also aim to educate people in the community about how to perform CPR.
Elaine, who is from Kingswood, joined the Tallaght branch four years ago and is a strong proponent of the work they do.
“As a member myself for nearly four years, I really enjoy attending my training every week and learning new skills,” she previously told The Echo.
“And getting to go on the many duties that we cover and meeting new people on the way.
“It is never a dull day when you’re part of an amazing unit with amazing people.
“I have made lifelong friendships with many of my fellow members and this, to me, has been the most important part of my reason for joining.”
