Jerry Fish is back ! Tallaght stadium is the venue for legendary artiste

Legendary indie band Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club will perform at Tallaght Stadium on Thursday, September 2, with support from Jazzabelles and The Arthurs.

For Jerry, it will mark a triumphant return to the stage after many months away as a result of the pandemic, while it will offer a much-needed night out for music fans.

Performances by Jerry Fish tend to veer towards the theatrical, where he blurs the line between audience and performer with engaging shows that have a circus-like atmosphere.

Jerry told The Echo: “At my shows, I like hugging strangers and holding people’s hands so it will be a new thing to me to not be able to do that.

“But I’m very grateful for the opportunity to go out and play again. I always feel like my job is somewhere between the band and the audience, and to connect it all together – it’s very free-flowing.”

During the successive lockdowns, Jerry focused on transforming a barn on his property into a theatre of sorts, for future livestream shows and also a means to get involved in making films.

“I’ve been at home with the family, doing a lot of building projects,” he explained.

“It’s been difficult not being able to perform, but I feel lucky that I get to do it in the first place.

“I didn’t book any shows; I’ve been writing a little bit and I built a little theatre in an old barn.

“I’ve wanted to get into film. I work with a lot of creative people and I felt a lot of livestreams were about the pandemic, as opposed to being about the art or the performance.”

Instead, Jerry is hoping to bring a theatrical element to any future livestreams he may do. In the meantime, he is focused on getting back on stage with his band and entertaining fans after a difficult few months.

“Artistes are delighted to be back, and audiences are delighted to be back,” he said. “There’s this wonderful feeling that it’s where we’re supposed to be.”

Live at the Stadium featuring Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club is presented by RAW Marketing in association with South Dublin County Council, and is funded by The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.

Doors open at Tallaght Stadium at 6pm on Thursday, September 2, and tickets are available at www.liveatthestadium.ie
