Joy for St Anne’s girls in U13 camogie decider

St Anne’s overcame St Brigid’s in an enthralling Camogie Division Three final 4-5 to 1-3 in Bohernabreena on Sunday.

The game started in a frantic fashion with both teams attacking from the get-go. Both defences stood firm and the game was scoreless after 10 minutes.

St Brigid’s got the first score of the game from a 45 and Anne’s quickly responded with an equalising point.

As the half progressed the Bohernabreena girls grew more into the game and added a goal through Ava Barnes and another point.

The game was 1-2 to 0-1 at half-time to the homeside.

The second half resumed with Brigid’s flying out of the blocks and they had the game tied 10 minutes into the 2nd half.

The game remained level for the next few minutes with both teams attacking and both defences standing firm.

St Anne’s got the breakthrough with a goal and quickly slotted over another two points to lead by 5 points. With 10 minutes to go Brigid’s attacked again but Kerry Murphy and Emer Corcoran marshalled their defence and kept Brigid’s at bay.

St Anne’s finished the game the stronger with 2 more goals and added a point.

The full-time whistle came and there were joyous scenes on the Anne’s side-line and pitch. During the presentations both captains thanked each team for a great sporting game and Ava Barnes from St Anne’s was awarded player of the match for her commanding performance.
